Notes:
Snake and spider parodies of Abbott and Costello.
Winifred (don't call her Freddy!!) can actually talk to animals, but
she's a witch (or reasonable facsimile), therefore justifiable.
Unusual idea of another character getting a crush on Dale.
[The plant foxglove was a common element in traditional witch rituals.
Foxglove has become probably the most famous (and loved) one-shot character
from the series, even garnering her very own fan website.
This episode has long been considered a turning point in the triangle
of Gadget, Chip, and Dale by several fans. Chip makes two separate attempts
to (apparently) confess his feelings for Gadget -- only to be accidentally
interrupted by Dale both times. Dale, however, makes no attempts whatsoever
to flirt with Gadget, which is a first. Those who advocate a Chip and Gadget
relationship use this as supporting evidence that Dale's interest seems
to have petered out, while Chip's remains as steadfast as ever. Gadget,
of course, remains in her usual clueless state about the whole thing.
On the other hand, Dale
does fight with Chip over Gadget's attention
at the end of "Chorus", so the status quo seems to be unbroken, regardless
of the implications of the episode.
Also, while the episode never portrays Dale as liking Foxglove as more
than just a friend, several fans have gone on to support a relationship
between the two, citing that Foxglove and Dale go well together. Interestingly
enough, those who hold this belief are also those who usually support a
Gadget and Chip relationship. -- MP]
